"Scream Magazine Metal Tour 2003"

Day 0 - Tuesday the 7th of October

Tomas Eien (tourmanager) came to Trondheim late Monday to pick up our equipment, ourselves, Griffin and the light-tech. Started driving 0700 in the morning to Oslo. Used the time from 1800-2300 to soundcheck for all the 4 bands. The sound-tech is really professional, and the sound is great! Looking forward to the gig tomorrow! Had one (!) beer at Elm Street (not the place it used to be...) and went to the hotel.

Day 1 - Wednesday the 8th of October

First day of the tour! Meeting and information for all the 26 people on the tour at John Dee 1400. Had some more soundchecks before the invited press, distributors and other VIPs came over for some beer, food and talks. About 150 pre-ordered tickets for tonights show. The doors opened at 2100 and suddenly there was a lot of people, actually about 350.
Griffin started the gig. They had planned that their friend Sasha Gabor should introduce them, but the arrangers didn`t like the idea... :-( Scariot played next, before we started around 2315.

Høydepunkt: ”I Lytinne Två”.

We played 8 songs/40 minutes, and the concert was really good! The feedback we got from the audience and journalists afterwards was overwhelming as well. A great start! Had "some" beers to celebrate the start of the tour before the busses arrived at 0200. We were really excited to see them, as they will be our home the next 12 days, but we had nothing to fear... 2 great nightliners from Sweden. We share one bus with Griffin and the light-tech, while Einherjer, Scariot, the sound-tech, tourmanager and merchandise-guy live in the other bus.

Some of us went to bed "early" at 0430, while some didn`t have the time to sleep at all, and prefered singing along with Judas Priest on the stereo and hunting sheep when the bus stopped. 90 km from Bergen we woke up from a crash and realized that the bus and a car had a little accident.

Day 2 - Thursday the 9th of October

Arrived in Bergen around 1400 and found "Garage" pretty soon. Set up the equipment and our bus-driver went to find a mechanic that could fix the lights on the bus. About 60 pre-ordered tickets for tonights show.

We were the first band on stage, at 2220. Not too many people, about 100, but those who were there seemed to enjoy the gig. Eystein and Vibeke were interviewed by the radiostation/website gothmetal.net. Had a lot of beer afterwards, and forgot some of our stuff when we left in the night... :-/

Day 3 - Friday the 10th of October

Alf`s birthday! He has been celebrating for 3 days, but now he finally has a proper reason... No one but himself and his mother knows his age, but something tells us that the Beatles were playing on the radio the day he was born :-) Came to Haugesund early in the morning and slept all day in the bus. "Flytten" is a really nice place, with Ozzy all over the walls! 60 pre-ordered tickets, but the arrangers think that there will be about 350 people here tonight! We will stay here tonight and have a party after the gig and drive to Sandnes tomorrow.

Great gig, the best so far! About 200 people, and the response was really good! From now on we will start the rest of the gigs in Norway and play last in Denmark and Sweden. After Einherjer played with great success (their hometown) we had a party in the restaurant upstairs, and after this the party continued in the busses... Our drivers needed a rest tonight, so they stayed at a hotel.

Day 4 - Saturday the 11th of October

Eystein`s birthday! Another thing to celebrate... :-) "Tribute" in Sandnes is a nice place, but the stage is really small so we`re not quite sure how to set things up... Now it`s Einherjers turn to forget things, Frode forgot his amp in Haugesund :-/

About 100 people, a bit dissapointing, but the response was great anyway. Left in the night to Kristiansand and waited for the ferry to Denmark.

Day 5 - Sunday the 12th of October

Arrived around 1300 at 1000fryd. Had a walk in the beautiful city of Aalborg. Nice weather and the quiet, laid-back atmosphere you find in Denmark... After the success we had here last time we really looked forward to this gig. Due to the neighbours the gig had to be finished before 2300, so we didn`t have much time for soundcheck. Anyway, our sound-tech Hugo Alvarstein is a professional, so this wasn`t a huge problem. After the soundcheck we had a nice meal made especially for us from some of our friends from last time, Ole, Amina and Lena. Thanks a lot! 80 people came to 1000fryd this Sunday evening, and that`s not bad! The audience was extremely entusiastic tonight, and we had our best gig so far on the tour. We also sold a lot of merchandise, 30 of the 80 people bought a Lumsk-CD! Thanks again Denmark! We hope to be back next year.

Day 6- Monday the 13th of October

Went to the harbour in the early mourning, but couldn`t get a place on the ferry to Sweden. Due to this we didn`t arrive in Gothenburg before 1800. When driving off the ferry a car crashed into our bus again. The gig at Henriksberg was supposed to start at 2100 so we didn`t have much time...

When we finally found the place we got quite shocked... The stage was REALLY small (Espen G and his synth had to stand offstage), there were no posters around, there were no stage-lights, the PA was definitely not made for metal, the mixer had 16 channels (at John Dee we used almost 50), and they didn`t have enough microphones and cables. The sound-tech wanted to cancel the gig. This was a pity, as Frode Øien from FaceFront and Scream, Erik from Tabu and Jan from Scream had come all the way from Oslo to listen to us. There were also journalists from Slavestate Mag. and Monster Mag present. We didn`t go onstage before 0130 and at that time about 5 of the audience of 20 were still with us... Thanks for waiting for us! Today Steffan and Daniel from Scariot had a birthday and we celebrated this by playing in some really nice outfits we found backstage.

Day 7 - Tuesday the 14th of October

Stockholm cancelled. Drove to Oslo in the night, rested the day and drove to Trondheim in the evening. Arrived in Trondheim in the middle of the night and we all looked forward to a night in a regular bed. Then Alf suddently discovered that his bag with his clothes, keys etc. was missing, and that he hadn`t used it since we were in Denmark... We all went to our homes, but Alf had to stay in the bus...

Day 8 - Wednesday the 15th of October

Finally a proper stage at Blæst in Trondheim, the hometown of Lumsk and Griffin. We hoped a lot of people would come to see us even though the gig was on a wednesday, and we weren`t dissapointed: about 210! Trondheim Rock City: nice! All the 4 bands got great response from the audience. We had used a lot of time earlier the day to set up the stage, as we knew this would be an important gig. Used some pyroeffects on "Langt nord i Trollebotten", but unfortunately the flames prepared for "Ormin Lange" were far too big to use indoors. After the gig we had a after-party at the "Club Rocky" till the early hours when the busses left at 0900 to Molde. Thanks Jimi! This was the last gig on the tour for Bjørnar, Ketil Sæther (The Apparatus) will play session guitar on the rest of the gigs.

Day 9 - Thursday the 16th of October

Arrived in Molde at 1500. Don`t know how tonights gig will be... The people working here don`t think there will be many people, but at the same time they haven`t put up any posters... The stage has carpets on the floor, and the rest of the place looks like the disco on the boat to Denmark... :-/ Got a nice breatfast, though... Kai from Griffin discovered that his bag with clothes, money etc. was left behind at the after-party in Trondheim, so now Scariot are the only ones having all their stuff. There are still some days to go, so they will probably loose their guitarist, Mr. Peisy somewhere...

Nice suprise! About 100 people came, and the response was overwhelming tonight too! After-party in the backstage area before we went to the busses in the night.

Day 10 - Friday the 17th of October

Woke up in Ørsta, a small place we didn`t know much about... Turned out to be a really nice place with tall snowcovered mnountains all around, and the "Rust Club" was nice as well. Had the best food so far on the local hotel, and started playing at 2200.

Aksel (Einherjer) testing his jews-harp

Nice gig! About 90 people, and some had been driving for hours to hear us! Siv Lena had an unhappy encounter with the cargo-door on the bus when packing her stuff and had to go to the doctor. There was blood all over her head, but she is a tough girl and was fine afterwards. Packed our stuff and drove to Hamar after the gig, as it`s a long way over the mountains... Kept on partying in the bus, and went to bed at a time unknown when the driver got enough of the hardcore Guns `n Roses fans in the bus and shut off the electricity... :-/

Day 11 - Saturday the 18th of October

Hamar, "Hydranten". The last gig for Einherjer while the rest of us have one to go... Huge stage, looks promising!

Great gig! Actually one of the best so far. About 140 people (I think...) Nice stage, nice sound, and a really nice crowd! Afterparty upstairs, and we soon headed for the karaoke-machine! We didn`t know how to operate it, so our sound-tech had to tune in the system for us :-) Seeing 20 drunk metal-heads gathering on a small stage, singing karaoke is a strange experience! (Nice Bon Jovi with growling, Steffan!) The bus drove at 9 in the morning, and the party ended...

Day 12 - Sunday the 19th of October

When we woke up in Notodden we were all in a terrible condition after the long night before. Suddenly we realised that we had forgot one of the drummers in Hamar! Believe it or not, but it was NOT the drummer of Lumsk! Anyway, he soon arrived by bus and he was fine. "Stua" was a great place, maybe the best looking club so far. Too bad the gig was on a Sunday, and only 40 people came... Our vocalist Steinar had to leave back home to Trondheim this morning, so Pete Beck from Griffin did the male vocals. One of the "not so good" gigs on the tour, but we`re afraid we can not only blame the 2 session members... :-)

Now it`s all over! Back to reality... Thanks to all the people we have met on the tour, and a special thanks to you buying our CDs and t-shirts! Greetings to the 3 other bands and the crew, and not at least a huge cheers to Scream Magazine, Tabu Recordings and FaceFront for arranging this tour for us!!!
